Our programmes

We’re on a mission to help young creatives in Hampshire to get ahead and succeed in the creative and digital industry. Rather than just talk about the issues of youth unemployment we are on a mission to do something practical about it. Below are just some of the programmes we deliver for free to support young unemployed creatives in Hampshire.

Apprenticeships

Our apprenticeship scheme has supported 15 young creative apprentices wanting to break into the industry. The apprentices have come from a varied set of skillsets. These include 1) Graphic Design, 2) Digital Design, 3) Technical Development, 4) Photography and Film making, 5) Copywriting and 6) Illustration.

These complementary skills allow our students to form a close-knit team, covering all the bases of a digital marketing agency.

We provided training for each apprentice, tailored to what they need to get ahead. Whether that’s to hone their digital marketing skills, build their technical skills, or develop an entirely new skill set to increase their employability, we’re with them every step of the way. We’ll also provide each apprentice with a wage, paid promptly and funded by our kind business sponsors.

As a responsible organisation, we’re committed to paying our apprentices the real living wage.

Mentoring

Winchester Creatives runs a 6-month mentoring scheme that matches 25 recent graduates with our 25 volunteer mentors (all leaders in the creative industry). Our mentors assist our mentees for free in developing their skills as well as landing their first job in the creative and digital industry. Our creative mentoring scheme gives support to graduates that they usually wouldn’t receive after leaving university.

If you’re a young creative looking for an inclusive and supportive creative mentoring community, please fill out this form

Or if you’re an experienced senior creative from anywhere in the creative industry and you’d like to volunteer to help someone get started in their creative career, please fill out this form.

Training platform

Our creative training platform is aimed at recent graduates and other young creatives who are looking to up-skill in certain areas, in order to further aid them in getting their first job within the creative industry.

We collaborate with experienced industry professionals from all across the creative industry to provide sponsored training courses that are relevant and industry-specific.

Our online community platform on the Mighty Network provides a free 10-week online training course, called ‘Ultimate Content and SEO’. This course content is kindly provided by Kathryn Strachan and her Copy House Ltd team.

Creative events

Winchester Creatives run a number of different creative events. Once a month we have an inspirational talk from someone in the creative industry. These talks are open to the public, but give a chance for our mentees to ask questions of creative leaders that aren’t readily available to them.

Additionally, to support our mentee community we run an informal community gathering on the first Friday of each month. These are informal gatherings but allow everyone to get to know each other, share resources and network.

All of our events are open to the public, details can be seen over on our Eventbrite page.
